My Mental Health Playlist for When My Anxiety is Unbearable

Although mental health isn’t talked about much in pop culture, it sometimes make an appearance in music. Since music is such a powerful artistic medium that helps people with their mental health journeys, I’ve decided to compile a list with songs about mental health. When I learned about distress tolerance skills in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, I latched onto the idea of using the five senses to effectively overcome my crippling anxiety and breakdowns. I made this playlist on my iPhone to put me in a better mood when I need to tolerate the unbearable distress that Borderline Personality Disorder and anxiety bring me. The songs I chose are inspirational and easy to relate to at the same time. They cover a variety of genres, but mainly pop and rock. I hope you find this playlist as inspirational as I do!
